Dear Central Intermediate Families,
I hope you and your family are staying cool and enjoying the summer! This summer has absolutely flown by, and it's hard to believe that our 24-25 school year is just around the corner! Our teachers and staff are already hard at work preparing for the upcoming year, and we are excited to see each of our students and their families soon!
For those who I haven’t met yet, I am Denver Boren, and I have the honor of serving as the principal of Central Intermediate. The upcoming school year is my 5th year as principal of CI and my 18th year with Bixby Schools. Previously, I taught middle school social studies and was an assistant principal at Central Elementary before moving here to CI. I am from Broken Arrow and graduated from Oklahoma State (Go Pokes!) and Northeastern State University. My wife, Kaycee, and I have been married for 9 years, and we have two daughters, Loretta and Charlee. We are big sports fans and spend a lot of time rooting for our Spartans, Pokes, and even that red team in Norman. 😉
As an educator and leader, I believe the partnership between schools and families is absolutely critical to the success of our children and school. Central Intermediate is only successful because of the collaboration between our families and staff. It takes a team, and we are so grateful to work alongside you and your family to help your student be happy and successful at CI!
The CI teachers and staff are comprised of both new and veteran educators who are committed to helping your student learn and grow this year. Our goal is to make learning fun and inspire students so they look forward to coming to school every day! Our leadership team attended two conferences this summer, and we are excited to implement some of the new ideas we learned!
Jamie Guthrie is joining us as our assistant principal again this year. This is her 5th year at CI, 8th year with Bixby Schools, and her 20th year in education. Previously, she served as a school psychologist and was the Director of Special Education at another district. She and her husband, Tony, have been married for 23 years and have two daughters, Brooklynn and Addie. In their free time, they enjoy watching Addie, a senior at the high school, play soccer for our varsity team. Jamie also enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors.
As we approach the start of the school year, please remember that some of our families are new to Bixby and CI. Our car line, in particular, requires patience and understanding during the first couple of weeks. It’s always slow in the beginning, but I promise it will get faster.
Our teachers, staff, and administrative teams are all here to help your child have the best school year ever! As we navigate this year together with you, we look forward to working together to make that happen. We’ll have ups and downs throughout the year, but as long as we are committed to helping our kids, I know it will be a great year. If you have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call me, our front office, or your child’s teachers. We have some information below regarding the upcoming school year, important dates, etc., and we will continue to share updates as we get closer to the start of the school year.
