Hello, Central Intermediate Families!
I hope your summer has been full of fun, rest, and plenty of ways to stay cool! Somehow, the summer days have flown by, and we’re already gearing up for another exciting school year here at Central Intermediate. Our amazing teachers and staff are already back in the building, preparing classrooms and planning great experiences for your children, and we can’t wait to welcome them back!
For those I haven’t had the chance to meet yet, I’m Denver Boren, and I have the privilege of serving as the principal of Central Intermediate. This will be my 6th year as principal at CI and my 19th year with Bixby Public Schools. I started my journey here in Bixby as a middle school social studies teacher and later served as the assistant principal at Central Elementary. I grew up just down the road in Broken Arrow and am a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!) and Northeastern State.
Outside of school, I’m husband to my wife, Kaycee, and dad to our two daughters, Loretta and Charlee. We love cheering on the Spartans, Cowboys, and even that red school down in Norman 😉.
At CI, we believe that strong schools are built on strong relationships with students, families, and our community. The partnership we share with you makes all the difference, and we’re so grateful for the support and trust you give us every day. We’re all part of the same team working toward the same goal: a happy, meaningful, and successful school experience for your child.
Our staff is a mix of educators who have both fresh energy and experienced wisdom, and are passionate about creating engaging, supportive classrooms where students are excited to learn and grow. Our leadership team spent part of the summer at a phenomenal conference, and we’ve come back energized and full of ideas to make this year the best one yet.
Mrs. Jamie Guthrie will be serving as our assistant principal again this year, and we’re thrilled to have her! This is her 6th year at CI, 9th in Bixby, and her 21st year in education. She previously worked as a school psychologist and served as Director of Special Education in another district. She and her husband, Tony, have been married for 24 years and are the proud parents of two daughters, Brooklynn and Addie. When they’re not at the soccer field cheering on Addie, Mrs. Guthrie enjoys gardening and spending time outdoors.
As we prepare for the first day of school, we know many families, especially those new to Bixby or Central Intermediate, may have questions. The car line, in particular, is always a little hectic at first. We appreciate your patience and grace during those first few weeks as routines settle into place. It gets better, I promise!
We are here to support your child and your family every step of the way. If you ever have a question or concern, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, the front office, or your child’s teacher. We’re all in this together, and we’re excited for another year of learning, laughter, and growth at CI.
Below you’ll find a few important reminders and updates for the upcoming school year. We’ll continue to send additional info as the first day gets closer.
Here’s to an incredible 2025-2026 school year!
All my best,
Denver Boren
