Get to Know Us

us

I see you, I hear you, I love you! That's what I say regularly to our students. We want every child to feel welcome at WI, and whatever we can do so they know they are apart of our school is an effort we make! I am so happy to have your family as part of our WI family! If you need anything, never hesitate to reach out! My email is bshaw@bixbyps.org and I am so happy to help. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child's journey! It's always a great day to be a Spartan! --Dr. Brenda Shaw, Principal

me

Hi!! I'm Lauren Lawson and this is my third year to serve as the Assistant Principal at BWI. I am married to Michael and we have two kids in Bixby schools. Ben is at the Middle School and Sophia is here with me at WI. We are so thankful to be Spartans!

Before serving as an administrator, I was a middle school counselor for three years and also served as a teacher from grades 3rd through 8th.

I've been many places, but WI is home! Here's to another wonderful year!

PTO Fundraiser

Race for the Gold

Grade Level "Go for the Gold" Fundraiser:

To coincide with Intermediate’s grade level competition for points, we will have a fun competition called “Go for the Gold” to get the kids involved and excited about raising money for their classrooms. Starting today, each grade level will be competing to raise the most money. They will have ONE week (September 20th -September 27th) to collect as many donations as they can!

The entire grade will receive rewards when they reach certain milestones, and the grade that raises the most will earn an epic Friday Funday that includes their teachers getting taped to the wall.

You can donate toward your child's grade here!

Grief Groups

BPS & Bixby West Intermediate are proud to partner with The Grief Center to offer school-based groups led by an experienced grief facilitator.  This will be a six week group, specifically designed for children who have experienced a significant loss. These sessions will give your child the opportunity to share about his/her loss while learning about grief and how to cope with changes that take place when such a loss occurs. Group will also allow your child to connect with others at school who have had a similar loss. It is our hope that your child will be encouraged and find hope in the midst of a difficult circumstance. Such programs have proven to increase classroom performance while decreasing absenteeism in grieving students. To join, please contact Mrs. Still at tstill@bixbyps.org or call 366-1777. Groups will begin the first week in October.
