Spartan Community,
Thank you for your patience and understanding over the past few weeks following the high school principal’s separation from Bixby Schools. We are dedicated to maintaining stability and structure for students and staff as we enter a hectic period for the high school, including the exciting and highly anticipated opening of the new academic building in January.
I am pleased to announce we have named Kyle Smith the interim high school principal for the remainder of the school year. Mr. Smith, with his six years of experience as an assistant principal at BHS and his previous roles as a high school principal and district administrator in another school district, brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to this role. His wife, Courtney, is a counselor at BHS, and they have a seventh-grade child at Bixby Middle School. The district will continue to provide resources and guidance to assist Mr. Smith and his team over the coming months.
While we have complete confidence in Kyle’s leadership during this interim period, the district plans to open and post the permanent principal position in the spring semester. We will undertake a comprehensive selection process, considering internal and external candidates, to identify the candidate with the best experience, knowledge, character, and leadership to guide BHS forward. We aim to have a permanent principal named by early May.
I wish you a restful and pleasant fall break.
Sincerely,
Supt. Miller
