As we transition to another month, I want to take a moment to thank all of you who entered a pumpkin into our annual "East Intermediate Pumpkin Decorating Contest!" This year's entries were absolutely amazing, thrilling, adorable and just overall, wonderful! Congratulations to Lucas Blatnick (Most Creative Pumpkin), Lanikai Morgan (Cutest Pumpkin), Autumn Thornbury (Scariest Pumpkin), and Mrs. Janie Warren's Class (Best Class entry)! Calling all EI "Dyamic Dads!"

DYNAMIC DADS

Calling all EI "Dynamic Dads!!"

We'd love to have you join us out on our playground for some fun with football, basketball, soccer and extra supervision!

We have a great team on duty out there, too, we just thought it would be fun to invite some of our amazing dads in to join us! (Your kids will LOVE it!)

If you are interested, please call or email Wendy Truel (918-366-1755 or wtruel@bixbyps.org). We would love to have you join us once a week or once a month...or just as often as your schedule allows!

All volunteers will need to be BEST trained, but that is a super simple process

Thank you to our awesome dads who have already signed up! The kids LOVE having you out there with them!

Counselor's Corner

Hello, Parents and Students!

This month, we’re focusing on self-regulation—a key skill that helps students manage their emotions, behaviors, and reactions. As we head into the busy holiday season, it’s a great time for students to learn how to recognize their feelings and use tools to stay calm and focused, both in and out of school.

In classroom guidance lessons, we’ll be teaching strategies such as deep breathing, mindful moments, and using “brain breaks” to help students stay in control of their bodies and emotions. Learning how to pause, think, and make positive choices will help students build stronger friendships, improve focus in class, and reduce stress when things get overwhelming.

Parents, you can help at home by encouraging your child to talk about their feelings and practice calming strategies when faced with challenges. These simple skills can make a big difference in how they handle tough situations!

As always, I’m here to support all of our students. If your child could benefit from additional help with self-regulation or any other area, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing everyone a calm and balanced November!

Warmly,
Melanie Ankersheil
