test

Greetings East Intermediate Families!

This month, we are focusing on taking care of ourselves as we prepare for the testing season!

Managing Test Anxiety: You’ve Got This!

Feeling nervous before a test is normal, but when those nerves feel overwhelming, remember — you have tools to help! Try these strategies:

  • Deep Breathing: Inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4 counts, exhale for 4 counts. Repeat to calm your body.

  • Positive Self-Talk: Replace worries with encouraging thoughts like, “I am prepared,” or “I can handle this.”

  • Visualization: Picture yourself completing the test with confidence and staying focused.

  • Grounding Techniques: Use the 5-4-3-2-1 method — name 5 things you see, 4 you can touch, 3 you hear, 2 you smell, and 1 you taste to stay present.

  • Movement Breaks: Stretch, walk, or shake out your hands to release nervous energy.

  • Healthy Routines: Get plenty of sleep, eat a balanced meal, and give yourself time to relax the night before.

Test-Taking Strategies:

  • Read Directions Carefully: Take your time to understand what’s being asked before jumping in.

  • Start with What You Know: Answer the easiest questions first to build confidence, then circle back to tougher ones.

  • Pace Yourself: Don’t rush — if you get stuck, move on and come back later if time allows.

  • Use Process of Elimination: Narrow down multiple-choice options to improve your chances of choosing the right answer.

  • Review Your Work: If time permits, double-check your answers and make sure you didn’t miss anything.

Remember, your teachers and counselors are here to support you every step of the way. You are capable and ready to do your best — believe in yourself!

Wishing you and your family a great April!

Student Drop Off & Pick Up

Please help us to keep our school parking area, transition areas and students and staff members safe by only utilizing the main drop-off/pick-up area in front of our main entrance. Students should not be dropped off in the middle lot south of the Intermediate and adjacent to the Elementary playground (near the waste dumpsters, etc.) unless approved by site administration for special situations. Additionally, please keep your speed at a safe speed. Thank you for your help.
