I know I say this EVERY month but this year is FLYING by! I cannot believe it is January already. We have had an eventful month. December is always busy and a lot of memories have been made at Central Elementary. This month we celebrated our 67th day of school. It was a little underground dress up days for staff that we challenged our students to find the theme. It DID NOT take long! :) We've also had dress up days, parties, showcases, and much more!
January will be filled with Amira and IXL benchmarking. Each child will do their benchmarks for Math and Reading in grades K-3. By the end of January we will use the information to change interventions, FLEX time (intervention time) and modify classroom strategies and curriculum to fit the needs of the students.
Special Olympics Penny Drive will occur in the month of January. It begins January 26th. It is a week for all students to help support our Special Olympics athletes and their endeavors at Special Olympics. Please send any donations to your teachers the week of January 26th.
Lastly a reminder about volunteering. Please remember that if you volunteer or would like to volunteer we have a procedure for vetting our volunteers. You must be BEST trained to spend anytime in the classroom as a volunteer. Please see our website, tab Parents and then BEST Volunteer training. As we come back in January please remember that January 6th (Tuesday) is the first day back for students. Friday will also be an early release day.
I hope everyone has a wonderful break and we will see everyone January 6th.
