From warm and sunshine to cold and snow, this past month provided us with a little bit of all! As we continue on into the cold months, please send your child with a jacket. Unless below a wind chill of 30 degrees, we will continue with outdoor recess. Be sure to mark your child's coats, water bottle and personal items with their name. We post lost and found objects daily on our Central Elementary Facebook page.
The month of January brought reading and math benchmark testing for students using Amira and IXL programs. We use this information, along with informal assessments and district CSA's to change interventions, FLEX time (intervention time) and modify classroom strategies and curriculum to fit the needs of the students.
This past month, our CE PTO surprised many teachers with grant items that were funded by PTO. The funds were raised in the fall during Spartan Warrior. Some of the items included upcoming grade level field trips, art supplies, PE equipment, and classroom learning items used daily to help students. We appreciate the support of our families and PTO!
Due to bad weather and distance learning, the Special Olympics Coin Drive has been extended till Feb. 6th. This is a week for all students to help support our Special Olympics athletes and their endeavors at Special Olympics. Please send any donations to your child's teacher.
On February 11th and 12th of this month, classrooms will have Valentine's parties. NEW: To attend Valentine parties, EACH guest must register to attend. Along with registering, you must also bring your Fast Pass. Due to space, we ask that no more than 2 guests per student. On party day, if you have not registered and brought your Fast Pass, you will have to go to the office to sign in which will be a long wait. You can find register links for each grade level below. As always, reach out if you need anything.
Last, PreK enrollment for the 2026-27 school year has opened. Along with this, BPS is offering an Enrollment Day on February 13th from 8AM to 5PM at the Enrollment Center connected to the Administration building. During this day, language interpretation services will be provided for families that need that assistance. A flyer about this has been attached below.
Best wishes,
Leslie Haynes and Amber Flowers
